What does female violence look like? After I saw the trailer for Viola Davisā new film, The Woman King, I began rolling this question around in my head. I wondered the same after Wonder Woman, especially when the core message from that film was that Dianaās strength came from her heart and quintessential goodness. Yet she can still absolutely pulverize any mortal man with almost no effort. I guess all this is to say Iāve been thinking about alternatives to our world, what would things look like outside of the influence of patriarchal structures and eurocentrism. Violence, when expressed physically, more often than not, is perpetrated by men with women, children, and marginalized people being the recipients. Thatās not to say women canāt be physically violent because we know they can.
I was in a fight at school, and the pain of getting hit in the face was nothing compared to the humiliation and embarrassment of it happening between classes with so many people watching. This was over twenty years ago and I canāt even remember if getting punched in the face hurt or not. No, when I think of violence Iāve experienced at the hands of other women, itās decidedly not physical, and more psychological and emotional than anything else. So I wonder if, in a world where women were in charge, would we still implement physical violence? Truly itās meant as an exercise in demonstrating power one has over someone else. But if we go the physical route, is that not just re-enacting the way weāve seen men exercise power over others? These are the questions that live in my head when the edible has kicked in but it is way, way past my bedtime and the fan is blowing and I can hear the patterned breathing of all of my animals sleeping on and around my bed in the middle of the night.

The TikTokers are fighting back and Norma Rae would be proud! Influencers using the platform are teaming up to hold Amazon accountable for the way they treat their workers and I think thatās fantastic. I donāt know where this labor movement is heading but Iām excited to see where it goes. ā

A person has been going through my old tweets and retweeting ones specific to a certain subject. They arenāt someone that I follow, but not a complete stranger either. Itās a strange tack but one that made me notice. So, is this supposed to be a message to only me? Or are they going through something related to the topic? Iām not saying who or what the topic is to give them the benefit of the doubt that theyāre just going through itā¢ and to demonstrate my self-awareness that everything is not in fact, about me, despite the evidence in my every day life. Anyway, online behavior is weird, and thinking about this makes me wonder if Iām that weird individual in someone elseās life. Which, depending on the behavior, is either kinda sweet or maybe weird?? Or am I the weirdo for noticing it?? š
Congrats friendos, we made it halfway through the week! See you back here next time š
